Update report: The romantic hinterland of Mallorca, where Agroturismo Son Ametler is located, is definitely one of our favourite regions on Mallorca. Here, time seems to pass a little slower and mass tourism is far away. Instead, as we arrive, sheep graze on the quiet country roads, gnarled olive trees and almond orchards line the way before we turn into the car park of Agroturismo Son Ametler.

A sea of flowers and a magical view

A warm breeze is blowing, crickets are chirping, heavenly peace is in the air, a cypress tree sways gently in the wind. We love this area, which is surrounded by romantic villages such as Moscari, Campanet and Selva. It is an area where the typical spirit of Mallorca can still be felt and which, thanks to its peace and quiet, is ideal for recharging your batteries.

Paola has fulfilled a wonderful dream here with her agrotourism. The small rural hotel is truly a romantic oasis where you can let your soul dangle and enjoy with all your senses. The romantic agrotourism, with only 13 rooms, is situated between blooming bougainvilleas and tall cypresses.

The rooms and suites themselves are very cosy and lovingly furnished. Wooden beam ceilings, stone floors and a mix of natural materials and warm colours create pure cosiness. Each room has a great and modern bathroom, where the stay becomes a real pleasure. Many of the rooms also have a breathtaking panoramic view of the Tramuntana mountains.

The centrepiece is undoubtedly the pretty pool, in the middle of which a swan is gently driven back and forth by the wind. Around the pool, loungers and daybeds provide plenty of space to lie in the shade or in the sun. As our gaze wanders into the distance and the gentle twittering of birds reaches our ears from afar, we enjoy the mild afternoon sun by the pool and Fortunately, you don't have to do anything during your holidays, so we just enjoy feeling the wonderful atmosphere that surrounds the hotel.

Relaxed cosiness

But if you do feel an urge for action, you can make the most of the picturesque surroundings for cycling or hiking, or for a leisurely stroll if you prefer something a little more relaxed. Be sure to visit the picturesque villages, which have retained their original charm to this day. Leigh, the heart and soul of the hotel, who has been supporting Paola with her hotel for many years, always has a list of festivals and activities that are currently taking place in the area. And you really shouldn't miss any of them. The Mallorcans know how to party, and especially in the summer months, the small villages offer an authentic programme of markets and festivals, with folklore dancing and fire-breathing demons.

But today we are taking it easy and are already looking forward to a delicious dinner at the hotel. We have enjoyed the enchanting four-course menu here several times and are already excited to see what Paola and her team will conjure up on the table today. So far, every course has literally blown us away. Delicious Mediterranean dishes – often with a touch of Italy – are conjured up in the kitchen of Son Ametler. Enjoy the heavenly view of nature and, if you like, the excellent wine that is grown directly on the finca.

A night at the Agroturismo Son Ametler is heavenly. We sleep soundly and are refreshed, with only the gentle sounds of nature to disturb our peace. We wake up refreshed and in a good mood, and start the new day with a delicious breakfast on the beautiful terrace. There is a good selection of breads, fresh fruit and vegetables, smoked salmon and excellent scrambled eggs. What better way to start the day of your holiday!

Who is the Agroturismo Son Ametler the right hotel for?

Quite clearly – anyone who is looking for peace and relaxation and, above all, wants to discover the authentic Mallorca will love Son Ametler and this picturesque region. Without question, the beaches are about 20 minutes away by car. So if you mainly want to enjoy a beach holiday, you would have to drive a bit every day. But if you are looking for an exciting mix of hikes or walks, a stroll through a romantic village here and there, a visit to Palma and the occasional trip to the sea, then the hotel offers an excellent starting point for an eventful and varied holiday. 
 

Incidentally, families like to book the hotel just as much as couples do. In the low season, it is mainly hikers and active holidaymakers who are here. But don't worry, even in the height of summer it doesn't get too lively, as the rooms of the small hotel are spread over several buildings and there are also plenty of places to relax and unwind in the beautiful grounds. For us, the Son Ametler is a real highlight, especially because the food in the kitchen is truly fantastic. So it may well be that you will often find us here for dinner too. 😊
