When a new hotel opens, it is always particularly exciting for us. So we could hardly wait to visit
Finca Son Cladera near Sa Pobla in person. The new country hotel with studios and flats is located at the gates of Alcudia, not far from the village of Sa Pobla and thus in wonderful proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca and also to charming, still very original villages and numerous hiking trails.

Peaceful oasis off the road

A few kilometres past the motorway, we turn onto a narrow dirt road and drive a short distance inland. We pass meadows and fields with fig and carob trees. Along the way, sheep and their lambs lie in the shade of the natural stone walls, crickets chirp in the trees. Soon we discover the historic main house of the Finca Son Cladera, perched somewhat loftily on a small hill. As soon as we arrive, we enjoy the breathtaking view of the island over the surrounding villages and all the way to the Bay of Alcudia. You can hardly hear the nearby road from here, but the location offers a great connection to the sea, but you can also reach Palma - the island's capital - from here in just under half an hour.

Beautiful natural plot and breathtaking rooms

The siblings Francisca and Pau welcome us to their finca, where they have fulfilled a dream with the whole family. Their parents also live on the finca and are actively involved in making the future guests feel at home at Finca Son Cladera. The work is in its final stages, the finishing touches are being put on everywhere to create the perfect feel-good atmosphere, because in just under a week the first guests will be arriving. And as we see and experience, everything at Finca Son Cladera is really well thought out and furnished with a lot of love and feeling. We are lucky enough to be able to see the whole finca and all the flats in peace.

The rooms, true design jewels

And what can we say? We are thrilled right from the start. True design treasures are hidden within the historic walls. Lovingly and with a lot of feeling, the parts of the building that were once used for agriculture have been transformed into a charming design hotel on Mallorca. All junior suites, suites and the large flat have a large, very modern and fully equipped kitchen. Modern interiors such as free-standing, matt white bathtubs, modern rain showers and contemporary furnishings conjure up pure cosiness. And yet it is here that the lovingly preserved historical details are particularly inspiring - the old rings to which the cows used to be tied, the bathroom with the glass floor under which the rock comes to light, the exposed natural stone wall or the old cistern that lets the sunlight shine into the bathroom when bathing. Old wooden beams, river pebbles, a historic door here and there - all these elements harmonise wonderfully with the clean, modern lines of the furnishings. We are thrilled and, above all, we are sure that you will feel completely at home in the Finca Son Cladera.

Great views and close to the forest

Most of the spacious suites face out to the front and reveal a great far-reaching view over the island. The Es Bosquet and Mountain suites are located at the back of the finca with a view of the mountain and the adjacent forest. From here you can listen to the chirping of the crickets and enjoy the heavenly tranquillity that surrounds Finca Son Cladera.
As Pau explains to us, an extensive forest area borders directly on the finca. There are numerous interesting hiking trails of varying lengths, which have surprises in store, such as a cave. Furthermore, there is a bicycle garage to repair, wash and safely lock up the bikes.

Lots of view, lots of shade, lots of silence

It's still a bit sparse here and there, because the garden still needs time to grow. But in the back area and at the historic pool, the true charm of the old finca becomes apparent. Our tour continues through a small wood with tall, shady trees towards the main house. You can hardly hear anything here, it is so quiet.
Even from a distance we can see the pool glistening through the trees. Here we settle down, enjoy the heavenly atmosphere and let our eyes wander over the small chapel, the imposing palm tree and enjoy the charm of times long past that comes alive here.

The pool is really beautifully designed and offers a wonderful view over the island. By the way, if you like, you can have a massage here in the shade by expert hands in the future.
