In this hotel review, we take you to Finca Son Cladera, a special boutique hotel in the north of Mallorca, which we visited on site.

Location & first impression: Mallorca's hinterland at its most beautiful

The enchanting  Finca Son Cladera is located in the tranquil hinterland near Sa Pobla, yet well connected to the coast and the island's capital. The approach leads past meadows and fields with fig and carob trees, sheep with their lambs resting in the shade of old natural stone walls, crickets chirping in the trees.

Mallorca shows its authentic side here. Soon we discover the historic main house of the finca, which sits slightly elevated on a small hill. Upon arrival, a panoramic view of the island opens up, stretching over the surrounding villages to the bay of Alcúdia. Despite its easy accessibility, it is pleasantly quiet here, ideal for guests who are looking for a peaceful country hotel in Mallorca but still want to be close to the sea or Palma. Incidentally, you can reach the island's capital from here in just under 30 minutes.

A peaceful oasis away from the road

A few kilometres past the motorway, we turn onto a narrow dirt road and drive a little way inland. We pass meadows and fields with fig and carob trees. Sheep lie with their lambs in the shade of natural stone walls at the side of the road, and crickets chirp in the trees. Soon we discover the historic main house of Finca Son Cladera, which sits enthroned on a small hill.

As soon as we arrive, we enjoy the breathtaking view of the island over the surrounding villages and as far as the bay of Alcudia. The nearby road is barely audible from here, but the location offers great access to the sea, and Palma, the island's capital, can be reached in just under half an hour.

Hosts & philosophy: friendly, warm, authentic

Siblings Francisca and Pau give us a warm welcome to their finca, which they run together with their family with great dedication and attention to detail. You can immediately sense that a family dream has been realised here. They proudly show us around the extensive property, tell us about the history of the finca and guide us through the stylish holiday flats, junior suites and apartments. Living within historic walls: a designer hotel with character

And what can we say? We were impressed from the very first moment. The historic walls of the finca conceal true design treasures. Former agricultural buildings have been tastefully converted into a charming designer hotel in Mallorca.

All junior suites, suites and spacious apartments have a large, modern and fully equipped kitchen: ideal for guests who value independence. The interior is contemporary and stylish:

free-standing matt white bathtubs, modern rain showers, clean-lined furniture and high-quality materials ensure an all-round cosy living experience.

The harmonious interplay of old and new is particularly impressive:

old rings where cows used to be tethered, exposed natural stone walls, historic wooden beams, river pebbles and a glass floor revealing the original rock beneath. These lovingly preserved details give Finca Son Cladera its unmistakable character.

Panoramic views, forest and activities around the finca

Most of the spacious suites face the front and offer magnificent panoramic views of Mallorca. The Es Bosquet and Mountain suites are located in the quieter rear area of the finca with views of the mountain and the adjacent forest.

Here you can enjoy absolute peace and quiet, listen to the chirping of crickets and feel the special serenity of this place. Directly adjacent to the finca is a large forest area with numerous hiking trails of varying lengths, some of which, as Pau explains, offer little surprises such as hidden caves.

Cyclists will also get their money's worth: a well-equipped bicycle garage is available for repairing, cleaning and securely storing bikes, a clear plus point for a bicycle-friendly country hotel in Mallorca.

Pools, quiet spots & historic ambience

The full charm of this special place unfolds at the rear of the finca and around the historic pool. Our tour leads through a small wood with tall, shady trees towards the main house, where it is impressively quiet.

The pool glistens through the trees, next to it a small chapel and an imposing palm tree, bringing the spirit of bygone times to life. If you wish, you can treat yourself to a massage in the shade right on the finca.

A second, large pool in front of the house is ideal for lap swimming, while children can splash around in the shallower area.

Family-friendly finca hotel in Mallorca

Families also feel very much at home at Finca Son Cladera. Children find plenty of space to play in the extensive grounds. There is also a lovingly designed playground with a slide, swing and trampoline.
