Not far from the Vicentine coast in south-west Portugal lies the romantic Herdade da Matinha Country House & Restaurant. It is a place of tranquillity and inner contemplation, but also of warm hospitality and culinary delights. The 4-star Herdade da Matinha country estate is located on a 19th century property. The old buildings have been lovingly and sensitively renovated and transformed into today's country hotel in the south-west of Portugal.
Today, 35 cosy, elegantly furnished rooms are spread across the four houses, offering guests plenty of space and privacy on the extensive grounds. You can choose between spacious family rooms, cosy surf lodges or, if you are looking for peace and quiet, the adults only Rose Club Deluxe Superior rooms. Each room is lovingly furnished with charming details. Warm, cheerful colours, cosy wooden furniture, colourful fabrics and lovingly selected decorative objects and pictures ensure that you immediately feel at home. Your host Alberto, who adds a personal touch to the Herdade da Matinha with his own paintings, is responsible for this.
The Herdade da Matinha is surrounded by vast estates characterised by magnificent holm oaks and typical rural vegetation. The view sweeps across meadows and fields where animals graze and birds chirp.
Cosy sun loungers or comfortable sofas in the shade of the house invite you to relax. Together with the three pools, everyone is guaranteed to find their favourite place to relax and enjoy the day at Herdade da Matinha.
Far away from the hustle and bustle, the Herdade da Matinha is the perfect place to unwind. It is the perfect place to harmonise body and mind. For this reason, there is also a yoga room available to guests, where both individual and group classes can be held.
Host Alberto and his team look forward to welcoming and pampering you in their little paradise in the south-west of Portugal. This starts with breakfast, which you can enjoy either in the breakfast room or in the outdoor area of Herdade da Matinha. And as Alberto is also an excellent chef, you shouldn't miss the outstanding dinner. The food on the table comes from the neighbourhood or the local organic garden. The cuisine offers traditional, regional specialities. The dinner is accompanied by delicious regional wines.
Located in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, you can enjoy unspoilt nature and beautiful hiking trails that lead along some of the most beautiful villages in the region. The sea with its wild, naturally beautiful beaches is only around 8 kilometres away from Herdade da Matinha. Surfers in particular get their money's worth on the nearby sandy beach of Aivados, for example. Botanists and zoologists will also find a true paradise in the unspoilt nature along the coast. The region is also ideal for cycling and horse riding. The towns of Cercal and Vila Nova de Mil Fontes are also just a short drive away.
