Fantastic location in the east of Mallorca near the coast

We particularly love the picturesque east of Mallorca. Gentle, green hills and the occasional glimpse of the sea around the next bend. Even a road trip through the east of Mallorca with its winding country roads is a real pleasure. But today we're not here to take in the scenery, instead we turn off onto a small road behind Manacor, just before the coastal road, which leads us directly to the beautiful Hotel Rural Son Mas  on Mallorca.

Pure peace and nature at the Son Mas boutique hotel

As soon as we arrive, we feel the indescribable tranquillity that surrounds this picturesque place, far away from the hustle and bustle and streets. The crickets chirp in the trees and a gentle, warm wind blows through the leaves of the palm and olive trees in the well-tended garden.

The imposing manor house with its old mill tower can be seen from afar. The estate is around 300 years old. Thick natural stone walls keep the interior of the house pleasantly cool, even in summer. The historic manor house has been lovingly and sympathetically modernised without losing any of its typical charm.

High vaulted ceilings, river pebbles, natural stone walls and solid wooden beam ceilings harmonise wonderfully with modern elements, smooth plastered walls and modern furniture. And yet the charm of times long past can be felt everywhere. As soon as you enter the adults-only Hotel Son Mas, you realise that this is a very special place - a place to switch off, where stress and hectic life are quickly forgotten.

Very stylish junior suites with a high level of comfort

The junior suites at the Hotel Son Mas are spread across the main building and the two neighbouring annexes. They offer plenty of space and a cosy feel. Our junior suite no. 11 (not pictured) in the annexe building has a sleeping area with a large, handmade four-poster bed with a very comfortable mattress, as well as a living area with a desk, comfortable sofa, TV and well-stocked minibar, which is accessed via two steps.

The curtains blow gently in the wind and open out onto the terrace with a view of the garden. The furnishings of the junior suites are traditional and combine discreetly modern elements, giving them a particularly cosy ambience. A rain shower and a whirlpool bath await us in the bathroom.

Modern pool with Mediterranean views

We are particularly looking forward to the new pool, which has just been renovated. At 20 metres long and 8 metres wide, it offers plenty of space for swimming laps. The view sweeps far across the neighbouring Mediterranean landscape of olive trees and figs. The pool has different depths and even areas where you can sit or lie down and relax. Alongside the pool, there are shaded and sunbathing areas in the neighbouring porch where you can relax, read a good book or simply listen to the sweet sounds of nature.

Wellness & spa at the Hotel Son Mas

The beautiful indoor pool in the spa area is also available on cooler days. You can enjoy a marvellous view of the garden through the floor-to-ceiling windows. With a whirlpool and counter-current system, you can relax in the pool or start your daily workout.

There is a small fitness room and a sauna right next door. Beauty treatments, massages and yoga can also be booked at the Son Mas wellness hotel.

Mediterranean cuisine in a romantic restaurant

Before we go to dinner, we enjoy a cocktail in the garden under the palm trees and savour the time for relaxed conversation. The restaurant is located inside the main building and impresses with its high vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that open up views of the garden.

The romantic courtyard with its shady trees and pleasant lighting is particularly beautiful, where we enjoy our dinner at Son Mas under the warm hospitality of Maria del Carmen. A delicious breakfast is also served here in the morning.

What did we particularly like about Hotel Son Mas?

We had a wonderful time out at the boutique hotel Son Mas. We particularly enjoyed the heavenly tranquillity that surrounds the Son Mas country hotel. Here you can really only hear the sounds of nature. This is one of the reasons why we slept so well and felt very comfortable in our room.

We also really enjoyed the large, new pool area and spent some lovely, relaxing hours here. The very attentive service from manager Inma and the indescribably warm manner of Maria del Carmen in the restaurant made us feel very welcome.

Our little break at the Son Mas country hotel was a blessing for the soul. Son Mas is a special place of peace and privacy with discreet service and warm hospitality. A place where couples and solo travellers alike immediately feel at home.
